Congratulations Luis Vayas Valdivieso on your appointment as vice chair of the #globalplasticstreaty bureau #INC2
>13,000 chemicals are associated with plastics, leaking from manufacture to disposal. Time to consider sustainable chemistry at the design stage #inc2 #PlasticsTreaty Pacific Plastics: Science to Solutions
Shocking, impactful, creative, devastating, amusing, insightful, impactful comms campaign here in Paris at #inc2 #plasticstreaty by No Plastic Waste Minderoo Foundation. Meet #theplasticforecast, highlighting how we designed a pollutant so pervasive it is in our air, water, soils & bodies
Today I wrote to The Independent about the once-in-a-lifetime-opportunity to secure a strong and comprehensive #GlobalPlasticTreaty that protects Small Island Developing States against the existential #plasticpollution threat they face. The stakes could not be higher.
Small island states even with progressive environmental policies are being unfairly impacted by floating plastic pollution from outside sources. Waste management facilities do not have the tech to deal with it. This is a social justice issue Matthew Moorefield #INC2 #PlasticsTreaty
Old ocean plastic that is very degraded and biofouled represents a major recycling challenge particularly in #SIDs (let alone a major risk to ecosystems due to rafting invasive species) - a threat we see in #Galapagos Pacific Plastics: Science to Solutions Galapagos Conservation Trust AOSIS #INC2 #PlasticsTreaty
Interesting point from Common Seas, waste management is never going to be the feasible solution, land is precious and should not be for ever-growing landfills. Inspiring work on SIDs, congratulations for all your achievements to date! #INC2 #PlasticsTreaty
Introducing our surprise guest at Galapagos Day 2023! A huge thank you to Sir Stephen Fry for supporting GCT and our ongoing work to rewild the Galapagos Islands, which includes reintroducing ‘keystone species’ such as giant tortoises! #GalapagosDay2023 #RewildingGalapagos 📷© GCT
