underused Array method: bsearch. If you're `find`ing on a sorted array... you could probably bsearch and it'll be faster. Of course Jemma Issroff already wrote up a great guide: jemma.dev/blog/array-bse…
It's a great day to have a great day! Also a great day to register for RubyConf Mini, and join us in Providence mid Nov to meet other Rubyists IRL, watch talks on a wide variety of topics (and meet the speakers / keynoters), and engage with our sponsors rubyconfmini.com/register
Who should I be chasing to find sponsors for RubyConf mini? Are you looking to find (or sell to) excellent Rubyists of exquisite taste? Sponsoring mini would seem like a no-brainer to me. Emails are open: [email protected]
Someone asked if RubyConf Mini was still accepting talk proposals. I don't actually know of any way to check which Ruby conferences currently have open CFPs. Does anyone know of a resource that would say which CFPs are currently open?
Today @[email protected] merged a PR that changes Classes and Modules to use object shapes for storing instance variables rather than a hash table. Class IVAR reads are 2x faster, and it saved 16MB RAM! 👏 github.com/ruby/ruby/pull…
I'm heartbroken to share this news about our dear friend and colleague, Chris Seaton.
Ruby Australia Do you want to learn how object shapes work, why we implemented them for Ruby 3.2? If you're curious to learn more about Ruby internals, or how instance variables work, Jemma Issroff has the talk for you! tinyurl.com/ruby2023
For those attending RubyConf AU we’re going to do an in-person meetup on Wednesday February 16th at 6pm. 🎟️ We’ll meet at Polly Woodside Park and have some snacks and can walk to the conference-wide Kingpin afterwards.
