Watch:
If the #LossAndDamageFund 's Board does not explicitly & meaningfully include the diverse voices of the rightsholders who are meant to be the Fund’s main beneficiaries, the Fund risks becoming another bureaucratic relic, preserving the status quo of climate injustice 😱
Getting participation right from the start is essential to the #LossAndDamageFund ’s legitimacy, equity, effectiveness & potential for transformative change.

🚨Justice denied from the outset🚨
The Board of the #LossAndDamageFund — convening for the first time in Abu Dhabi 🇦🇪 next week — set strong restrictions on civil society participation in the meeting, limiting the participation to two people per UN Climate Change stakeholder groups.
‼️A recipe for disaster: Designed to provide long-awaited justice for those suffering the most from climate impacts, the #LossAndDamageFund risks failing right from the start by limiting access for those it claims to support.

Strongly disagree w/views Bruce Gilley that misrepresent & reflect a gross lack of knowledge of Malaysia, her policies/people. Malaysia is a safe/hospitable country. Public outrage justified. Scholars should promote understanding, not cause harm & express differences responsibly
