I am very happy to welcome Kenyatta Lovett to TN Dept of Labor & Workforce as our Assistant Commissioner of the Workforce Services Division. He’s going to help us do important, high-purpose work across Tennessee.

The State Workforce Development Board plays a key role in shaping the future workforce in Tennessee. We had a productive and informative meeting today at TCAT Murfreesboro/Smyrna in Smyrna.

It was great having Gov. Bill Lee, Eleanor Yoakum, and Brad Hopkins join us for the Tennessee Government Executive Institute panel discussion today at TN Dept of Labor & Workforce headquarters in Nashville.

I am honored NASWA has invited me to be a part of its Board of Directors. The organization does important work that impacts workforce development across the entire country.

We had a very productive Tennessee Workforce Development Board meeting today and we previewed what’s to come next week for National Apprenticeship Week with a proclamation from Gov. Bill Lee. #NAW2019

It was great to see so many new apprentices at TCAT Nashville starting their journey towards becoming highly sought after skilled individuals. Apprenticeships are a proven way to fill the skilled labor gap.

I can’t think of a better way to wrap up National Apprenticeship Week then by participating in a roundtable discussion at Gestamp Chattanooga. Work-based learning in Hamilton and Bradley counties can serve as an example for areas across Tennessee. #NAW2019

It’s great to see more and more apprentices and registered apprenticeship programs in Tennessee. I traveled to Waverly today to watch 10 apprentices start their program at the Nashville State Community College Humphreys County campus. Congratulations!

Labor & Workforce is shifting resources, expanding capacity, and doing everything we can to process an unprecedented spike in new unemployment claims as quickly as possible. We know this is a critical benefit Tennesseans need.
