Threatening bankruptcy if settlement talks fail.
Talking about 'true NIL' as if that means something.
Suggesting it can tell a judge what to do in a settlement.
To my sports law students: Great news, there will be no shortage of NCAA problems to write about for years to come!

In a significant part of a proposed settlement, the court will “reaffirm” NCAA’s remaining compensation rules, including prohibiting booster pay if they're not 'true NIL.'

Schools will be offered “economic incentives” to bring collectives in-house.

The choice for the NCAA is simple: settle the House case by paying billions and establishing revenue sharing with athletes OR lose in court in this case (and all other antitrust cases) and pay billions more in damages. sports.yahoo.com/how-has-court-…

Settlement talks are ongoing in the House v. NCAA antitrust case. The ultimate outcome is clear: revenue sharing with athletes. If the NCAA would simply allow member schools to pay athletes directly, they could sign players to contracts and perhaps collectively bargain.

I like how this passage responds to those who complain about the amounts of compensation being paid to college athletes.👇

Many athletes’ athletic services have immense value to their teams and schools.

It’s now easier to realize that value for those services.

Coaches’ salaries and buyouts are responsible for nearly 40% of athletic department budgets in FBS. Facilities account for almost 20%. That will change. sports.yahoo.com/sources-new-co…

Sure, academics matter but funny it’s always athletes asked to sacrifice rights, choice, $ ⤵️

* Restrict transfers bc school is so important
* Don’t pay bc they’re amateurs & everybody’s broke
* NIL to pretend it’s not pay for play
* Lobby 4 antitrust exemption so it’s all legal
