This is so important and needs to be said a thousand times per day.

We need more of Mister Rogers.

One big difference I’ve seen between municipal policing and college policing is the access to effective heath/mental health care on campus that others don’t have. If our society had true access to real mental health care...oh what a wonderful world it would be.

“There’s no person in the whole world like you, and I like you just the way you are.”

We need a guardian policing model, not the warrior policing model that has taken over. We are not at war with our neighbors and we need to stop acting like we are. We are losing the leaders we desperately need.

We need to reshape law enforcement into what our communities deserve and demand. The rise of warrior policing has eroded the last bit of trust our communities had in police. We need a guardian model of policing in America. We are not at war with our neighbors.

I dissent.
