people laugh, but compare & contrast what's clickable? what accepts input? doesn't mean you need to adopt the windows98 aesthetic (based if u do tho) but depth helps & could be subtly added to most aesthetics by competent designers (also based, companies should hire them)

When learning #Ruby on #Rails, you might learn RSpec or Minitest, know their DSLs and how to use the them to write model, controller, or integration tests. There is often a gap in learning how to write good test cases. To address this, I am excited to prelaunch a workshop

This afternoon I helped a new client a) work through some technical troubles around Capybara networking and b) learn a bit about how to write meaningful tests. Client said I saved him a ton of time. Why do I share this? The usual of course: bragging and self-promotion!!

A formula that can be used to decide whether to implement a possible change: (expected_payoff_value / cost) * likelihood_of_payoff High value adds weight to "yes", low value adds weight to "no".

Everybody wants to persuade other people but nobody wants to be persuaded. If you conspicuously allow a person to persuade you, it's more likely that they'll allow you to persuade them in return.

I'm retweeting this not because I agree or disagree, but because Steven created RSpec and I find this comment interesting.

Does there exist, anywhere online or in a book, a good explanation of declarative vs. imperative programming styles? So far the only explanations I've found have been unclear, incorrect, unpersuasive or all three.

My new book, Professional Rails Testing, won't be finished in time for Rails World as I had hoped, but it is safe to say that it will be done by the end of 2024.
