Ketchikan’s Isaac Updike cruised into the steeplechase final at the USA Track & Field Championships moments ago by finishing second in his heat in 8:22.45 behind Under Armour Dark Sky teammate Matt Wilkinson (8:22.42).
Soldotna’s Allie Ostrander not so fortunate in women’s steeple heat. 7th in her prelim in 9:40.71. Her buildup was compromised by injury and illness. Lots of season left for Allie O — the Kenai Central grad, 3-time NCAA steeple champ, races track, trails, mountains and roads.
Nice. Didn’t have a q or Q next to name in initial results. Good for Allie Ostrander. Day for recovery, then final Saturday afternoon.
That’s former Alaska Aces masked man Kevin Carr
Ketchikan’s Isaac Updike just finished 5th in the steeplechase at USATF nationals in Eugene. Was in 4th with a shot at podium and a World Championship berth but stumbled out of final water jump and lost momentum.
