Why do some HCPs think it’s ok to ‘suggest’ a patient needs a further referral for something completely unrelated to their specialism AND then assume the GP will be happy to do the referral? If it’s not your area just tell the patient that you can’t comment on it. Period.

A huge failure of policymakers is the failure to understand that the GP is not just trained to be the top of a diagnostic pyramid but also the bottom, the entry point. Delegating tasks such as admin, blood tests, follow-ups, triaged tasks to others.

PulseToday NHSE asks GPs to square circle, nail jelly to a tree, turn water into wine… If patients need admission, they need admission. Are they asking GPs to avoid admitting potentially very sick people, shouldering more medicolegal risk and putting patients in harm’s way?
