The President's reckless actions targeting DC autonomy mean many of our unhoused neighbors are at immediate risk. 🚨 If you or a neighbor need support, call the shelter hotline immediately at 202-399-7093. DC government has expanded availability. More resources: ➡️

This is happening tonight, DC. Now is the time to open your homes, your churches, to pay for a hotel room. People will be arrested. Not because they are doing anything wrong. Because they don't have a home. People in and out of DC, raise your voice. legalclinic.org/press-release-…

As a reminder, DC is the most policed city in the country. There are over 30 policing agencies here. Even the libraries have their own police force. The solution is not more police, it's resources like housing, healthcare, after-school programs, and food.

DC’s cleaning crews cover around 81 miles/day for around $150K/day. National Guard has cleaned a total of 3.2 miles and costs more than $1M/day. It’s about 170X more cost efficient per mile to fund DC’s existing work.

Sign of the times: Came across a D.C. home bearing an upside-down city flag, indicating distress, and the sailing flag associated with man overboard.

NEW: We are suing to block the unlawful deployment of National Guard troops to DC. Armed soldiers should not be policing American citizens on American soil. The forced military occupation of the District of Columbia violates our local autonomy and basic freedoms. It must end.

This means full control over MPD would revert back to D.C. officials next Thursday, which is a big local victory – and one for Mayor Muriel Bowser's go-along-to-get-along strategy, which rankled some local activists and lawmakers.

I know the rep for DC doesn’t have any actual power, but can’t help but think about what it’d be like — during this occupation — if DC had a 40-something energetic, feisty, media/social media-savvy rep using that platform to call attention to all the bullshit this admin is doing.

What “historical preservation” looks like in Cleveland Park. A dead parking lot with numerous vacant buildings on a Saturday night. While the other side of Connecticut avenue is thriving. What a complete policy failure.
