A privilege to listen to Donna Ockenden FRSA, Hon DLitt Hon DSci on Desert Island Discs this morning. Great music choices. Donna’s story about her early life so openly shared, together with the cases that have influenced her midwifery career, her empathy & drive to improve maternity services is impactful.

Can't quite believe it is 5 years since onset of Covid-19. The pandemic had an immense impact on staff, patients, the population, our way of life, our freedom. Critical care staff & all staff made an immense contribution often at personal cost to themselves & their family life.💞

Tim Cook Totally agree. In all professions. I’m not keen on the move from ANP to ACP to AP. I’m a nurse. Proud to be a nurse. Patients need to know my background and training. I also sign my notes ANP and I won’t change.

🔥Have been incensed about something all day…. Women are the majority of medical students in the UK, yet there are still pockets of the medical profession where dinosaurs are alive, well & roam the earth. Turns out my own clinical specialty (ICM) is sadly one such place…. 1/8

#OliversCampaign I am angry NHS England Workforce, Training and Education have always been clear: people with a learning disability & autistic individuals delivering Oliver’s Training should be paid Band 5 rates Yet many charities with contracts to deliver it are paying minimum wage Not On My Watch Please retweet

To all the Supermarkets and big commercial stores that operate 'Self Check-outs'....... You are heading towards almost exclusively self-checkout now. Yesterday I went shopping at one such store and the lady checking receipts at the exit was stopping everyone. I didn't choose to

Pembroke College Chapel Choir, with Anna Lapwood as conductor right now at 1.43am, the Royal Albert Hall. I have a lump in my throat. It’s so beautiful to my ears, and to my heart. 💓 Anna Lapwood

Sir Keir Starmer’s plan to overhaul the NHS has been thrown into chaos after no money has been set aside to cover the costs of making thousands of redundancies at ICBs thetimes.com/article/14b7f9…

Given the number of non-medically qualified persons who claim to be “Reg Level”, I thought it’d be useful to clarify what is expected for the most junior of Reg levels, ST3, and what the job actually entails 1/

The insinuation that resident doctors work part-time to take advantage of locum shifts is ridiculous. Also no mention of impact on career progression/longer in training. Quarter of junior doctors work part-time. thetimes.com/article/8fa510…

What a glorious sound @thebachchoir, London Youth Choirs and 8 amazing soloists made this evening with the fabulous David Hill performing Mahler’s eighth symphony. The acoustic and setting of St Paul’s Cathedral made this truly a performance to remember. Superb. Thank you. 🥳💕

Today I’ve taken a quiet moment to reflect on how this life, this journey - truly began. It started the day we lost our beautiful little boy, George. His sudden death shattered our world, and in those darkest hours, nobody came. That silence changed everything. From that

I speak to retired GPs and the pattern is obvious. They miss the patients, not the job. Not the grind, the tick boxes, or holding a service together on a shoestring. Most stayed as long as they could, then hit eject for their own sanity. There is a warning here for all of us.

Every shift I feel like I'm being set up to fail. Government neglect leading to crowding, hallway medicine and reliance on a CT scanner 25 kms away. Some solace in knowing that my misery is shared by every other emergency physician.
