Looking forward to hosting on the 26.6. a SMHS "metabolism in action" session with Philipp Zimmer. First, legend Hermann Heck will discuss the vLamax. Second talents Tim Havers and David Walzik will present muscle hypertrophy metabolism and exercise immune metabolism!

Comparing the effects of concentric-only and eccentric-only training is a very informative process for understanding how muscle physiology works. Read more in the weekly (free) article on Patreon.

2 infactual statements in this sentence. 1) Pyruvate is not converted to lactate in the absence of oxygen. Pyruvate is ALWAYS converted into lactate by the near equilibrium enzyme lactate dehydrogenase. 2) lactate does not cause 'muscle burn', or fatigue. Misinformation!

After Vingegaard has haemorrhaged time to Pogacar today, how will the next two weeks of the Tour go? Will Vingegaard go for broke and be very aggressive, or is that the Tour done, and will he now settle for 2nd? Let's hope it's not the latter. #TDF2025

We’re conducting a study on how lactate measurements are used to monitor endurance training intensity. If you’re an athlete or coach who uses lactate testing in your sessions, we’d love your input!Sharing is aprreciated! Shock Chepngetich has now been suspended for doping. This was not surprising when she couldn't get close to her marathon pace in a 10km. I am intrigued to know the exact cocktail of drugs that were being masked 🤔

Our open access review on the vLamax is now out! The vLamax was introduced by Alois Mader in 1984 and he proposed a vLamax test in 1994. Due to several limitations, we now propose the vLapeak as a testable estimate.
