Some highlights from Coquet Island at the weekend. Despite the dip, a great place to go 👍

4 Juvenile Red-Crested Pochard still at Barmston Pond, Durham, at 17:00

No sign of barred warbler at present. 2 spot fly, 1 pied fly and a garden warbler so far at Croft gardens. teesbirds

Barred Warbler at South Gare, one of three lifers this weekend including Eastern Olivaceous and Greenish Warbler (thanks to finders). Also had Great Grey shrike, YBW & RB Fly to round the weekend off. teesbirds

American Robin and Common Grackle were pretty regular from an August New York City trip

Probable Isabelline Shrike and Siberian Stonechat and a cracking OBP from the Yorkshire coast. That coupled with YBW for a Boro lifer made for a cracking day or two. Thanks to the finders 👏 teesbirds NorthYorksBirdNews

Recent trip to Mallorca, wonderful island and scenery that I didn’t appreciate when there 30 years ago. Unfortunately no good photos of lifers but a couple of regulars from the coast…

Ended the year with 120 for Middlesbrough, falling a few short of previous best. Five boro lifers thrown in to the mix as well, which was positive. teesbirds

A couple of lifers….fantastic views of the Druridge Bay White-billed diver followed by more distant views of the South Shields Ross’s Gull.

Menorca 1: A nice trail through shrub and along the coast near the villa at Cala en Porter has orovided Alpine Swift, Blue Rock Thrush, Hoopoe, Spotless starling, Stone Curlew and Raven overhead, amongst the usual suspects. Scops Owl calling regularly after dark.

Menorca 2: S’albufera des Grau. A visit to this spectacular location resulted in an osprey at dawn and a distant Kentish plover and amongst the usual wildfowl. A Zitting Cisticola also landed near. A Golden Oriole called twice and was briefly seen

Menorca 3: Son Bou Wetlands A circular route ended up being a 3hr walk through a ravine when I realised some of the path was impassable. Beautiful place, with highlights being Tawny Pipit, Gtr Flamingo, B-W Stilt, Turtle Dove, Marsh Harrier, Greenshank & Glossy Ibis

Menorca 4: Son Parc wetlands Access to a viewable position was a challenge. Worth it though, with 4 Ferruginous Duck, a Western Swamphen and woodchat shrike the highlights. No pics, as SD card has somehow gone, so here’s a booted eagle and Italian wall lizard instead!

Not wanting to miss out on the Dotterel action, I decided on a quick trip up the Northumberland coast this evening to Druridge Ponds. teesbirds
