SCIENCE IS FUN! And releasing 6 surface drifters in the Baltic Sea to follow eDNA and ocean currents at 3m depths has definitley excelled at that! Read about the hunt during @VeroMerten and my #traceDNA project below! GEOMAR_en

Hey! I recorded a series of lectures on a few topics in EvoBio (speciation, phylogenetics, quant gen, adaptive dynamics...) as my contribution to the 2023 edition of the Pre-Master Crash Course in Evolutionary Biology EvoBio Crash Course. Now available on YouTube: youtube.com/playlist?list=…

Taking the opportunity to broadcast Christoph Netz and my Am Nat paper, now formatted. journals.uchicago.edu/doi/10.1086/72… Agents use neural networks to move, assessing local cues to select next step. Network weights mutate, & spread based on ecological success of agents, this is evolution.

Check out Pratik Gupte’ thread on our latest paper if you’re interested in social behaviour and animal movement and how these can be affected by a novel pathogen …and lots more! Happy to see this one published! Fun taking part in this individual-based evolutionary model!

A nicely formatted version is out now elifesciences.org/articles/81805 I'm especially happy that they include the section in the review responses for how we corrected a bug in exploitation competition, while still being able to recover our results (susprise, spatial structure is key!).

Check out this blog post (stri.si.edu/story/living-c…) telling the story of Floriane Coulmance‘s journey across the Caribbean to study coloration in Hamlets! 🐠 Happy to have contributed! Had great fun (free) diving with Flo and Melanie Heckwolf.
