In my intro stats class today, I told students the median is a ”resistant” measure of a distribution’s center & is often preferred to the mean in the case of salary data, etc. I jokingly referenced this meme and in the 15 mins’ break they had, a student created this MASTERPIECE!

Not commonly discussed, but neuroimaging with EEG/fNIRS has built in racial disparities as available devices are not designed to work in thick dark hair. This makes our science less robust and representative. Here's some cool neuroengineering work trying to fix that problem!

I would like to go the next 10 business days without seeing Loom, Zoom, SPSS, Microsoft Word, and Google Drive. Thanks, A sleep deprived grad student.

This reality is exhausting. I’m torn between wanting/needing to stay current with the news and events...especially in my local area, but tired of being overwhelmed everytime I open up a media platform. I haven’t felt like myself in days. 😔

She was used for everything. Used to promote everything. Used to make people look good and socially conscious. Used to promote parties. Used for memes. Used as an example. Used and used and used. And even with all of this, she didn’t get the one thing she needed. Justice.

I love my #dukeidlab so much! And today not only did I get to meet some of my new RAs for the first time in person over our lab lunch, but my twins, Eila and Terran, came along to Duke University Duke Psychology & Neuroscience for the first time too! So happy they have so many role models! #goduke

Our hearts go out today to the family and friends of Mrs. Maxine McNair, who passed today at age 93. Mrs. McNair was mother of Denise McNair and the last living parent of the Four Little Girls killed in the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in 1963.
