Fun fact! National Park Service & DC DMV got rid of this emissions test kiosk a couple weeks ago, just about 8 months after DC mistakenly (& illegally) installed it in Kenilworth Park. A neighbor sent me this pic of the kiosk-less space seen from her dog walk. In even better news...

Does DC really have the best parks in the US? DC is unique in that it actually has *more* park acreage in Black neighborhoods. In most cities, neighborhoods of color have much less park land than white neighborhoods. I wrote about it for City Cast DC dc.citycast.fm/urban-almanac/…

Ahhh. I was wondering what happened to my illegally parked car with expired fake Virginia temporary license plates and $12,000 in unpaid tickets.

Ok and with that I’ve been to 18 parks in 2 hours 35 minutes. That’s 8 minutes 37 seconds per park including travel time. I will now be closed for rehabilitation.

I checked in on the park in Foggy Bottom I visited on Monday where 50 or 60 people were living in tents. They were kicked out yesterday and the park is closed. Half a dozen of them seem to have relocated to a park across the street.

Some of the “parks” on my map are not parks. Like this little triangle in front of the Hotel Hive. Or this random gated area in what looks like someone’s yard.

9 parks in about an hour. Stopped to chat with George and took some pics for new grads. Great didn’t know it was graduation!

Don’t think I’ve come across a functioning water fountain in my park visits yet. This is in Washington Circle. What would our nation’s founder say??? He would surely need to give his horse some water.
