The Western Australian Government have announced today that they will introduce a Bill to abolish the long-criticised Gender Reassignment Board.

UK Trans Community is organising to request withdrawal of consent from data sharing. The reasons for this are Government interference, lack of stakeholder access, political pressure, flawed methodology & anti Trans researchers. Cass & NHS England have lost all trust

So sorry to hear. Jane McAlevey has done more for my understanding of power & organising than most others. My 'Raise Hell' tattoo on my arm was inspired by her book. Rest in power comrade ❀️

Lol LGB Alliance Australia accidently being an ally. Yeah I agree - that's why it is so important that 16 year olds have access to gender-affirming hormones so that they can go through the right puberty at the same time as everyone else.

This is, for me, the most fundamental problem with the Cass review. It starts with a preconceived, transphobic notion that transition is a terrible epidemic. Transitioning is a wonderful, beautiful, and joyful process, and there is no reason to institutionally decry it like this.

🧡A thread on some resources that helped me get more understanding of the experiences of Transgender people and cut through the fear-mongering on issues like participation in sport, bathrooms, inclusive language, gender-affirming care.

Out of 3499 patients audited by the Cass Review, only 10 detransitioned and they only spoke to 2 to find out why. Once again, detransition is proven to be incredibly rare.

That's a detransition rate of 0.2% which is in line with several studies.

So the Cass Review claims that 'for many centuries transgender people have been predominantly trans females' (Page 114).

As a someone studyiung a PhD in Transgender Archaeology I'd just like to say this is serious bullshit. No wonder she doesn't include a citation for this!

Trans research and advocacy needs to centre people who are incarcerated or previously incarcerated, instead of ignoring or failing to deal with the implications of the prison industrial complex. Bit frustrating that so many studies are not considering this.

The Cass Review: A government-sanctioned attack on trans lives

We must not be silent. The deliberate omission of trans voices, the manipulation of data, the cruelty of denying vital care – all these acts demand our outrage.

1. Two years ago, Hillary Cass met with DeSantis picks and collaborated on a trans care ban in Florida.

Now her review targets trans people in England.

It is filled with flawed claims over evidence, toys, and social transition.

9. Notably, Patrick Hunter has been identified as part of a network of anti-trans Christian-Right experts who seek to roll back trans and queer rights by the SPLC.

Both the Florida Review and the Cass Review serve that function, and both collaborated.

A great response from PATHA. More global experts calling out the flawed Cass Review.

'This review ignores the consensus of major medical bodies around the world and lacks relevance in an Aotearoa context'
