I was left with a hearing impairment after a rare neurological condition in 2019. I’m deaf, dizzy & disabled.

I use this to help inform my approach to being the academic lead at the The University of Manchester

Have you had an atypical career that includes working in academia?

Have you started in academia and ended up elsewhere? Or the other way round? Or do you straddle academia and industry (all sectors included)?

Please consider sharing your experience

My favourite photo of 2023.

May your future be full of surprises & may they be good ones, but if they are not may you have amazing networks to help you cope with them.

For all my amazing colleagues & friends and especially my hero son who lives with an incurable brain tumour

In the spirit of wishing those who celebrate it a happy inclusive Christmas I’m sharing this image of the wrapping paper I’m using. Well done John Lewis & Partners

Beautifully written and tremendously sad to read. Laura was a The University of Manchester student and we were so sad to lose her. I consider myself a friend of the family now and we’re all trying to keep
Laura’s spirit alive.

Please - if you can - make a donation to brain tumour research.
