The strike on Saki airfield in Crimea is, in my view, is very good tactical targeting of a critical asset to counter Russia's use of air against Ukraine's Army. But this trolling by the Defense of Ukraine - "temporarily occupied," "reminder of fire safety" - is strategic gold.

The Ukrainian attack on Russian bases in Crimea in the past week has brought attention back to a war which many in the west have largely lost sight of. In this thread, an examination of the prospects for a Ukrainian victory. 1/18 🧵

I believe I suggested it would be a mini-Falaise (WWII reference) with likely 10-25,000 Russian forces trapped west of the Dniepro. Only the Russians couldn’t see it coming.

⚡️Zelensky: The legend of 'Russia the great country' must be forgotten. Zelensky said that "when Russia was strong, it was as the Soviet Union, including Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus, and the Baltic states." That time is over, he added, "we are showing it on the battlefield."

Over the past 48 hrs, Ukraine brilliantly executed a relatively small-scale armored attack that will reap gains in Kharkiv Oblast They regained key terrain that will affect Russian supply lines, w/ the added benefit of depleting RU units & overall RU morale. Well done!

For those geeking out on military terminology: 1. Ukraine's operation in Kharkiv is a "terrain-oriented attack." The force orients on key terrain objectives needed for future missions. 2. The operation in Kherson is a "force-oriented attack." The focus in on the enemy force.
