This is so wild.

For everyone that works on human dimensions of bears & human-bear conflict, it's not only ranches, exurban areas, and town fringes! This is right in the center of Pincher Creek, a pretty big town at ~ 3,500 folks!

Gotta get that stationery, I guess.

This looks great!

Data for resource roads (and most other anthropogenic features) in BC are notoriously incomplete & inaccurate. If this helps expedtie cobbling a roads layer together from dozens of provincinal data sets it's a huge win. (Right Nikita Wallia)

Good times in the North over the last two weeks. Got the Klinse-Za maternal pen loaded up thanks to an A-list team of vets, pilots, biologists, and Guardians. Herd is nearing 160 animals, up from 38 in 2013.

When done well - slightly tipping trees but maintaining their roots intact & in place - tree tipping can be an effective component to treating lines in caribou habitat. Done last winter & a year out the trees are still alive & upright. Too aggressive often = dead trees on ground.

I've been studying bears for >40 years (polar & grizzly) but I've now published a paper on black bears! It was an interesting path for this study but a fantastic team of collaborators & contributions from all North American jurisdictions made it happen.

Fucking yikes!

No water left, very little snow on the ground. We’re in calamity territory.

Being proud of water sharing negotiations among major license holders is pretty stupid when there’s no water to share…

get it together.

This is how it's done! Closing lines & taking names. Driven by the force of nature that is Katherine Wolfenden.

After 5 years of trial, error, focus, learing, & growth a sustainable resto economy is growing in NE . (Which is good bc there's 100's of 1,000s of lines left...)
