Getting to 1000 newsletter subscribers organically is a big accomplishment. Not many people realize that. If you can get to 1k subs with a 50-60%+ open and 5%+ CTR without paid ads... You have massive potential. The first 1k is the hardest. After that, growth snowballs.

The best media companies build audiences that advertisers CAN'T reach effectively with Facebook or Google ads. If you don't have an audience like this you're competing with Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, TikTok, and every other media brand.

There's so much opportunity to start a newsletter, YouTube channel, etc, and build something amazing. It doesn't take massive amounts of capital to build a successful media business now. And if you've used a lot of capital to build your media business, it's not successful.

There are no style points in business. Do what's right for your customers, team, & yourself. That's all that matters Don't waste time trying to impress peers, VCs, the media, or anyone else. So many people are building something that looks "cool" but not what customers want.
