This weekend, former District Attorney John Flynn handed the keys to his office to Michael J. Keane who will serve as the Acting District Attorney of Erie County effective March 31, 2024.

This week, MATTERS met with the U.S. Attorney General's office- Western District of New York.

We provided education on opioids like #fentanyl , medicated-assisted treatment, harm reduction strategies, and emphasized the importance of linking to care.

We are very excited to introduce our new Outreach Coordinator, Brooke Langella, MPH.

What is your favorite aspect of the MATTERS program? The diversity of each team member's backgrounds, roles, and contributions.

We urge the Governor and NY State Legislature to include this language in the final budget this year to allow NY to join other states who have been providing this level of care successfully. Please help us bring this life saving treatment to our patients!

Patients would also be linked to treatment or setup with an emergency telemedicine evaluation right from their home (or wherever the paramedics are caring for them) through the MATTERS Network.

A simple law change would allow paramedics to administer buprenorphine (or Suboxone) to patients after receiving naloxone (or Narcan) who are experiencing opioid withdrawal symptoms.

We have the opportunity in NY to allow paramedics to treat opioid use disorder right on the scene of 911 calls.
