Very disappointed to see the blind at Big Johnโ€™s Pond filled with people this AM. One individual was not even wearing a mask. While others had their masks pulled below their noses. It is irresponsible. #WearAMask

Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge NYC Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge NYC has both the Yellow and Black-billed Cuckoos. This is the Yellow-billed Cuckoo this Saturday 6/20/2020 showing off the pretty tail like a Peacock. What an awesome bird!#yellowbilledcuckoo #birdwatching #wildlife

Unfortunately it is the culture of the โ€œone upper.โ€ Someone is always going to want to get that better photo for likes on social media. If the non Covid-19 ettiquite situation keeps up at the blind, we may end up making the area off limits.

Correct! The beach area is used by nesting Terns, Diamondback Terrapins, Gulls etc. No one should be swimming out there. Yesterday, people were caught clamming near the North Channel Bridge. With no park staff around, people are taking liberties.

NYC Queens Birds Alerts Jeanne Cimorelli reports that the American Avocet continues on the West Pond Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge NYC. Yesterday, I viewed it from bench 9; If you are into county listing. Pay attention to where it is. As you could get it in Kings as well as Queens County ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ #BirdTwitter

1)Great looks at one of my all time favorite warblers: Chestnut-sided Warbler in Central Park! Sparkle level: TEN!๐Ÿ˜ƒOut of all Warblers, I think Chestnut-sided has the most dramatic transformation in the Fall where they have little resemblence to what they looked like in Spring.
