Jessica (J.A.M.) Aiwuyor 💫 Slave revolts were also becoming frequent and expensive to repress. The amount of resources needed to keep the growing populations enslaved simply unfeasible if not taxing to their economy.
To act like they abolished slavery out the kindness of their hearts is disingenuous
This panel was GOOD. Michael Harriot still has me stuck with the idea that we don't have to go back to slavery to make the case for reparations. In recent history, Black people paid taxes but were excluded from taking advantage of what those taxes paid for (schools, parks, etc.)
