It was a pleasure to meet w/ Nigerien President Mohamed Bazoum to discuss how USAID & #Niger are working collaboratively to support 🇳🇪 development priorities—including the needs of women + youth, given limited access to resources/economic opportunities

I also expressed gratitude for Niger’s partnership with the US & recognized #Niger for its democratic leadership in the region. USAID is proud to be a long-standing bilateral partner of Niger, w/ an annual budget of >$200M to support 🇳🇪 development/humanitarian needs

Under the World Food Programme United Nations the IKARIA ANGEL 🚢 loaded w/ 40 K tons of grain was supposed to leave the 🇺🇦 port today. These foodstuffs were intended for Ethiopians 🇪🇹, that are on the verge of famine. But due to the blockage of the “grain corridor” by #Russia the export is impossible.

Successful meeting w/ PM Shehbaz Sharif at #ResilientPakistan conference, where Government of Pakistan received pledges of >50% of $16.3B needed. The U.S. is proud of our longstanding support to Pakistan in times of crisis, including 2005 earthquake & last year’s monster monsoon

Off on a 16 day trip - 7 countries, 3 trains, 15 flights, 40 events, 2 carry on bags
