Our latest paper is now out at Nature Neuroscience! 🌈We discovered hue-selective neurons in the fruit fly brain. We combined genetic methods with modeling to reveal that recurrent connections play a critical role. rdcu.be/dH6N7

📢 Our latest paper is out in Cell! Led by the multi-talented Xinhe Zheng, we accelerated AAV-based gene delivery to 2 days & enabled in vivo CRISPR screens with single cell-level readout, a leap from existing capabilities 🤯 How does it work? (1/8)

We are so lucky to have ~8 more years with Simon Ogundare, as he’s chosen Columbia Medicine to pursue his MD-PhD. We only expect more greatness from this phenomenal scientist and human being.

The junior faculty at Columbia University's Zuckerman Institute are on fire! Congrats Rudy Behnia and colleagues. I remember how cool this work was when you presented some of it at last year’s Pew meeting Rudy.

Saying goodbye to our six graduating seniors from the lab, although we missed Melody and Aishat today. Glad that Abednego, Simon, Sevilla, and Sarah got to bring their families by the lab. Two off to grad school (Stanford and Columbia), rest doing gap years before med school.

I am ecstatic and proud to see our graduating senior Simon Ogundare win the Bridges and Sturtevant Prize in Biological Sciences from Columbia Biological Sciences. Over the years Simon has become an integral member of our lab.
