More shocking photos of the ongoing major fish kill on the Lower River Shannon. These are critically endangered #eels that were on their spawning migration to the Sargasso Sea. Thousands were killed this week passing through the ESB Group hydroelectric turbines at Ardnacrusha.

Systematic removal of predators where breeding curlew remain in Ireland is a prerequisite if populations are to persist into the future. These positions are extremely important...

Not a bad spot to be doing some fieldwork this winter. I've tracked one of my tagged #woodcock into this gorgeous little valley on the Beara Pensisula after it went missing from the main study site. It won't shake me off so easily!

An extraordinary place to find one of my #woodcock GPS tags on the Beara. We could scarcely believe it as we followed the signal higher and higher up the mountain among the bare rock and thin sheepgrazed soils. Not where I'd expect a woodcock to be. Looking forward to the data...

We're out every night trying to retrieve tags from our #woodcock before they migrate. It's very tough but we're chipping away at them. Here's an untagged bird I managed to sneak up on - feel the power of those wings as it lifts off!

Extraordinary photo! Migration time is the most risky for #woodcock - they have to dodge cities, peregrines, and bad weather at sea. Not all of them make it.

Agenda/minutes of meeting between DAFM and EU DG ENV Covers all the top level infringement actions Won't surprise anyone that these issues are also the most challenging from a transparency perspective irishriverproject.com/2022/06/12/minโ€ฆ
