We're already seeing huge delays on Woodbridge Road in Ipswich. We cannot have six months of this, and I'm incredibly worried that this could overrun. I've requested a meeting with Cadent to ensure that disruption is minimal and work is completed asap. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

I have written to Suffolk County Council to ensure they postpone all non-emergency works in Ipswich during the repairs to the Orwell Bridge. This includes the planned schemes on Nacton Road, Woodbridge Road and the Hospital to Waterfront route. ipswichstar.co.uk/news/25127148.…

The approval of the Portman Road regeneration project is a real boost for Ipswich, and a real positive statement of intent, vision and ambition. I'm proud to support this landmark project, and am working closely with IpswichGov to make it a reality. ipswichstar.co.uk/news/25127867.…

The repairs to the Orwell Bridge are necessary and unavoidable. However, it's critical the inevitable delays aren't made worse. We need common sense. That's why I've urged Suffolk County Council to avoid a summer of chaos by postponing all non-emergency roadworks in Ipswich.

Speaking to ITV News Anglia yesterday, I said it is inevitable that the planned repairs to the Orwell Bridge will have an impact on Ipswich and the surrounding area. However, to avoid a summer of chaos, I have urged Suffolk County Council to postpone all non-emergency road works.

The choice is clear: it is Bypass or bust. I have made my choice. It is time the Suffolk Conservatives made theirs. My East Anglian Daily Times / Ipswich Star column 👇 ipswichstar.co.uk/news/25131107.…

I spoke to Wayne Bavin on BBC Suffolk this morning about the need for an Ipswich Northern Bypass. The Suffolk Conservative's 'do nothing' approach is grinding our town to a halt. It isn't right that Ipswich keeps paying the price because of their refusal to act.

I'm pleased Suffolk County Council has listened to my request to suspend all non-emergency roadworks while the Orwell Bridge undergoes repairs this summer. This will provide some respite. Delays are still likely, however, because of no alternative route. ipswichstar.co.uk/news/25133525.…

Sizewell C isn't just essential for our country's energy security, it also offers once-in-a-generation opportunities for young people in Ipswich and Suffolk. That's why I urged the Prime Minister to support a Final Investment Decision for Sizewell C at #PMQs today.

Their victory will always be one of our finest hours. Today we come together to celebrate those who fought for our freedom. #VEDay80

Today, we mark VE Day — a moment to remember the bravery, sacrifice, and service of those who fought for freedom, democracy, and peace.

It was moving to be on the Cornhill last night, the same place where Ipswich gathered 80 years ago to mark VE Day. I was honoured to pay tribute to all those who had sacrificed so much for our freedom, as we lit a beacon to symbolise light returning after years of darkness.

Five Ipswich GP surgeries to get brick-and-mortar upgrades- less than a year in power and Jack Abbott MP and Labour are delivering for Ipswich residents x.com/ipswichstar24/…

Jack Abbott MP (@jackabbott90) 's Twitter Profile Photo

People in Ipswich tell me time and again how frustrating it is to face the dreaded ‘8am scramble’ just to get a GP appointment. With major upgrades to five GP surgeries across our town, this is the biggest investment GP facilities have seen in years. ipswichstar.co.uk/news/25151354.…

We're facing a summer of traffic and tailbacks. It didn't have to be like this, but the Suffolk Conservatives chose to block the Northern Bypass with no credible alternative, and we're now at breaking point. It's time to Back the Bypass and get Ipswich moving.

This has been a really good week for Ipswich and our NHS. Thanks to our Labour Government’s Plan for Change, East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust will receive £8 million for important building upgrades, as well as a new radiotherapy machine. This is welcome investment as we improve care for local people.

I want to hear from you. That's why I've launched my Summer Series so people in Ipswich can have their say on the issues that matter. What’s included: ✅ 6 town halls ✅ 13 community meetings ✅ A Summer School for young people ✅ A Residents' Survey Link in the comments 👇

A child can't learn properly if they are hungry. By expanding eligibility to those on UC, half a million more children will now receive a Free School Meal, saving families £500 a year. 100,000 children will be lifted out of poverty. The difference a Labour Government makes.
