I got a sweet card from a patient 💜 it isn’t necessary but it means so much when people do this for us. (Before anyone asks yes the long NWB period was necessary for that injury, I’m usually more aggressive with my LE weightbearing protocol, I usually WB at 6 weeks or earlier)

I’ve done this many times in the OR. If I have a bad gut feeling about a case, regardless of what “the chart” says, i am canceling. That voice has never steered me wrong, and whenever I’ve not listened to it in the past, I’ve had problems.

Really good talk from Mike McKee on proximal humerus. One excerpt I want to point out is "potting" of shaft into proximal humerus if you have gap in calcar - it is important to do this symmetrically & not into varus. Or can bone graft but potting easier. vumedi.com/video/common-p…

Okay ortho friends, time for me to learn. Those of you who treat kids/teens for sports/peds/trauma, what is your stance on DVT prophylaxis? Specifically bilateral lower extremity polytrauma. Weight based or age based? I looked on pubmed and guidelines and got no clear answer.
