While its close relative, the White Stork, is gregarious, Black Storks are only seen solo or in pairs in marshes and rivers. Despite its extremely wide range across the globe, it has no particular area of the world in which it is abundant, and its status is unclear. 🤔

GULLS! 🤩 You see them everywhere, from the beach to random parking lots. But do you really know them? These seabirds are some of the most misunderstood animals, often given a bad rap and seen as “pests." Learn to see gulls in a different light through Gulls are Great!

This remarkable Western Gull has lived an incredible 21 years! 🤩 Banded as a chick in 2004, she came to us on August 5th after being shot down. Her radiograph reveals the pellet lodged inside. ❤️‍🩹 She's now continuing her recovery and we’re hopeful she will return to the wild. 📷

This Whimbrel was admitted with a fishing lure embedded in its chin and over its knee. This patient is now recovering well, but not every bird is so lucky. Please dispose of fishing gear responsibly. Let’s keep our shorelines safe for all who call them home. 🌊 📷 Ariana

This orphaned Rhinoceros Auklet chick is not related to rhinos, but sure is one tough bird! 🦏😅 This new patient was rescued at Davenport Beach and transferred to us by Native Animal Rescue. After just two weeks in care, it's now waterproof and has more than doubled its body

This growing Western Grebe has made incredible progress! Just five weeks into care, it’s diving confidently in the big pool accompanied by an adult grebe patient. Watch those legs in action! 🦵💥 seeing a young bird work so hard to thrive makes every moment of care worthwhile 💙

This aggressive sky pirate is the Great Skua - not only are they apex aerial predators, but one of their main feeding strategies is stealing directly from other birds! 🏴‍☠️ While rarely seen in North America, this large seabird breeds on islands in the UK and Eastern Europe.

This barn owl fell victim to a glue trap in Agoura Hills, hindering its mobility and contaminating its wings and head with sticky residue. Left untreated, this owl may not have survived. Thankfully, our team stepped in to give this owl a second chance!🦉🩵 birdrescue.org/barn-owls-feat…
