Bless the journey of those on a mission, who use their bodies and their capacity to choose death to tell a story, to carry a message, to bring truth and clarity to those who are asleep. Do not diminish and dismiss this revolutionary choice as that of “mental illness.”

When ppl claim 'mental illness' invalidates political acts like self-immolation, it reveals a lot about their view of disabled people's autonomy & capacity for political engagement. It implies political choices are less valid bc of disability. We shouldn't entertain this. 1/

Academics and health care workers need to reject the notion of evidence-based care. It should really be called dominant ideology based conceptions of care. Because it is limited from the start to dismiss and dishonor the most important form of knowledge: lived experience.
