We were delighted to have BBC New Generation Artist Timothy Ridout visit Hawthorn Primary School for a very special viola workshop. The children heard Tim play, and then worked on the tune “Mattachins” alongside him and their tutor @hannah_tatt - what an amazing experience! 🎻🎶

Our new friend Timothy Ridout then went to work with the Violists from @BridgewaterSch. The children asked him really interesting questions and loved his advice on bow holds! 👏🎵🎻

West Newcastle Junior Orchestra is back in full swing after school at @BridgewaterSch 🎻 It’s so lovely to see a packed music room full of enthusiastic Young Musicians again this year 🎵

We were very lucky to have past InHarmonyNE musician and current WNSO principal violinist help out in year 1 string ensemble yesterday! 10 years on and she has returned to Year 1 Hawthorn Primary School where her musical journey began all those years ago 🎵 A full circle moment ⭐️

These 2 violinists have been playing together since Y1 Hawthorn Primary School 🎻 Now they share a desk at WNSO & enjoy weekly Step Up lessons The Glasshouse International Centre for Music on Saturdays🎵 We love seeing our young musicians continue music & friendships at secondary school - thanks to their tutor Jo Montgomery

Year 5 at @BridgewaterSch came together as Bridgewater Sinfonia for the first time today in a musicianship session 🎵 The Young musicians started learning their winter repertoire through sol-fa games, lead by conductor Katrina Buzzard & piecing together the lyrics in groups ❄️

We love to see the children practice their InHarmonyNE instruments at home 🎺 This Y3 Hawthorn Primary School young musician created a very handy and colourful chart to help remember their ta and titi rhythms🎵 With some impressive drawings of instruments on the back for decoration 👏
