Got to see one of my favorite river systems (Vosso) up close again this week. In Bergen Telemetry Network, we always wait as long as we can to retrieve receivers. I might have stretched it a tiny bit far this time, but waiting longer just means more DATA!! #AnimalTracking #NFR_LaKES

Happy to announce two PhD positions in fish ecophysiology 📣 Fully funded, fun fish temperature physiology, supervision by me, Shaun Killen, Natalie Pilakouta! Naturvetenskap/GU Please spread the word 🙏 web103.reachmee.com/ext/I005/1035/…

On the use of #aquatic #animaltracking to understand world increasingly shaped by #climatechange & #extremeevents – study led by Robert Lennox & amazing team from Lake Fish Telemetry Group now published in new Canadian Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences issue cdnsciencepub.com/doi/10.1139/cj… #fishsci #biologging #Telemetry #climate

The two weeks in Tromsø attending the ‘Fish Migrations’ course is over. Thanks for interesting and entertaining presentations, discussions and group work🐟 #TrackingNotSlacking Bergen Telemetry Network

Thrilled to share my first PhD paper! 🎓Our study reveals striking differences in fjord migration between Atlantic salmon and brown trout. Curious to learn more? 🐟🔍Dive deeper here: doi.org/10.1111/jfb.15… #telemetry #salmonids #migration Kim Birnie-Gauvin, Ph.D Kim Aarestrup

We had a stand at the Passion For Ocean festival today, with bycatch of some fjord shark species, the salmon lifecycle boardgame made by Cecilie Iden Nilsen and shark memory game made by Lotte Dahlmo! Lots of people showed interested🦈🐟 NORCE

Over the past few months, Cecilie Iden Nilsen & I have planned a free activity event for teenagers called ‘shark summer’. Very grateful to fsbi for funding the event🦈 Also, big thanks to Ocean Tracking Network for sending merch to the participating teenagers! Bergen Telemetry Network NORCE

This summer, our BTN members have done fieldwork for #NFR_RePRESS project: setting up radio antennas & tagging wild Atlantic salmon adults in western Norway! PhD candidate Erlend M.Hanssen & MSc student Markus study the effects of otter predation on the salmon population🐟🦦

Last summer, Morgan Piczak visited us in Norway that included working on the #BOATS project, entailing tracking different species like cod & European lobster in relation to seabed restoration. Curious about telemetry & restoration efficacy? Read more here: link.springer.com/article/10.100…

Lots of fun presenting data from my first two PhD chapters on spiny dogfish tracking that I’m currently working on! 🦈 Bergen Telemetry Network
