🥑We are excited by the speed at which Women with Disabilities in Nyamira County have embraced avocado value addition. Through the #HARE-Kenya Project, the women have been trained to dry avocados using solar driers, a natural process that prepares the fruits for oil extraction.

Today, we kicked off a 2-day training on agribusiness & #avocado value chain addition for #WomenwithDisabilities in Nyamira County. The training was organized by the Harnessing Avocado Oil for Climate Resilience & Empowerment of Women with Disabilities in Kenya Project.

The women also learned about banana value addition including preparation of banana wine, cakes, jam, bread & organic foliar fertilizer made by soaking banana peels in water-every part of the banana has value. #HAREKenya #ClimateSmartAgriculture #WWDLeadership #WWDInAgribusiness

From avocado oil extraction to making wine & powders, the participants explored how value addition increases income & reduces post-harvest losses. 🙂They also learned that Kenya is Africa’s largest avocado producer and the 6th largest exporter globally. ACBF
