Four decades ago, miners like me were labelled ‘the enemy within’ by Thatcher. Today, the same rhetoric is being used against British Muslims and all supporters of Palestinian freedom, writes Ian Lavery. tribunemag.co.uk/2024/03/the-ch…

Firefighters doing a fantastic job again. Thoughts with all affected. Why do authorities continue to ignore fire safety warnings we have made for years - esp since #Grenfell Utter scandal Hundreds of London firefighters attend Dagenham flats blaze theguardian.com/uk-news/articl…

I’m proud to be supporting candidates for the NEC that I know will push for universal free school meals. These elections are more important than ever when we are in government. #momentum

In past when politicians have talked of tough decisions it’s been shorthand for austerity imposed on poorest & most vulnerable. Labour can now rewrite that narrative with a radical tax programme to redistribute wealth, tackle poverty & low wages & invest in our public services.

RT Please share our short video in the aftermath of the #DagenhamFire In advance of final Grenfell inquiry report, we expose and challenge the crisis in fire safety across the country. #Grenfell #BuildingSafetyCrisis We demand action on the building safety crisis

This is awful news. Andy was a great Trade unionist and above all a true gentleman. Personally I will miss him very much.🌹🌹

RT Visiting the Dagenham fire this week, I spoke to the BBC, about the criminal failure of authorities to tackle the building safety crisis. They have put residents and firefighters at risk. It’s a national scandal. #BuildingSafetyCrisis #Grenfell

The Fire Brigades Union and Matt Wrack are campaigning to save lives. It is paramount that the Government act on the information that firefighters are providing them. We must end the #buildingsafetycrisis

It is excellent news that the Government have abolished Ofsted one-word judgements this morning. Teachers and school leadership will now get meaningful feedback that is more reflective of their work and parents will get more information about their child's education.

.Matt Wrack is completely right. Despite being 7 years on from Grenfell very little has changed. This week our new Government has a chance to change that. I hope that they respond to the Grenfell Inquiry with action to protect lives.

I’ve been proud to be part of the PCS Union campaign to reinstate the PCS reps at Benton Park View. I’ve personally met with the individuals concerned and see this as an attack on the trade union by the HMRC.

Ian Lavery (@ianlaverymp) 's Twitter Profile Photo

I fully agree with Matt Wrack. First responders risked their lives on that night. It is the construction companies, central government and management practices that need scrutiny. The Fire Brigades Union have been sounding the alarm for decades. It is time they were listened to.

There are over 3,000 buildings with dangerous cladding. Dagenham last week showed that the Government has not been quick enough to learn the lessons. Thanks to the professionalism of firefighters no one lost their life but we cannot continue to have these risks normalised.
