Our 2025 International Award goes to Prof Renae Ryan at Sydney Science! Prof Renae Ryan is internationally recognised for her work elucidating the fundamental molecular mechanisms of transport proteins, ultimately transforming our understanding of transport across the cell membrane
Thank you to Biochemical Society and my nominators for this award! Science is a team pursuit and this award recognises the hard work of the talented students, early-career researchers & collaborators I am fortunate to do science with! Sydney Health #TransporterBiologyGroup
An exciting time in Solute Carrier research. Here are some of the areas where SLC structural biology is heading and where future opportunities for new discoveries and therapeutic interventions await. rdcu.be/dE759 nature.com/articles/s4159… Department of Biochemistry at Oxford University Kavli Institute for Nanoscience Discovery, Oxford
Excited to share our study on a high-affinity choline and ethanolamine transporter, FLVCR1, published today at Nature. I am grateful for my doctoral advisor ,Hite Lab , my co-authors and collaborators, Tim Kenny, Artem Khan, and Kivanc Birsoy. doi.org/10.1038/s41586…
🎉 Exciting news! Our final manuscript is now published in Nature Communications! 📄 We reveal that the orphan human SLC22A10 gene is a unitary pseudogene due to a fixed missense mutation (P220), while its orthologs in great apes (L220) are capable of transporting sex steroid conjugates.
A wonderful May issue of the International Transmembrane Transporter Society newsletter 🗞️is out: it's packed with lots of important updates & info on #transporter meetings, open positions, papers and much, much more! Honored to have our work with Alessandro Bonifazi Dr. Amy Newman @BarbaraSSlusher and others as #paperofthemonth and cover by Diabetes, a research journal of the ADA 🧪! We created new drug tools to study how #dopamine in #brain vs #pancreas regulates blood sugar. Pitt Psychiatry NIDDK doi.org/10.2337/db24-0…
Glad to share that our review article on SLC6A1 variants (#GABA #transporter 1) in epilepsy is out today: frontiersin.org/journals/molec… Nikita Shah, Ameya Kasture, @SitteHarald, MedUni Wien, Transporters and Solute carriers, International Transmembrane Transporter Society
