Shri Viraj Singh, Additional Secretary (DPA-II & IV), Ministry of External Affairs, GoI, inaugurated the 4 weeks ITEC training on Post Cocoon Technology at Central Silk Technological Research Institute, CSB, Bangalore. 20 trainees from 9 countries are part of the training.

The Member Secretary, Central Silk Board and Secretary General, International Sericultural Commission, Bangalore Shri P. Sivakumar, has inaugurated the 4 weeks ITEC training on Sericulture and Silk Industry today at CSR&TI, Mysore. 22 trainees from 7 countries are participating.

The valedictory programme of the 4 weeks ITEC training on Sericulture and Silk Industry was held at CSR&TI, Mysore today. Sri Viraj Singh, Additional Secretary, DPA -II &IV, MEA and Shri P Sivakumar, Member Secretary, CSB and Secretary General, ISC have graced the occasion.

The Volunteer Experts of International Sericultural Commission are in Thailand extending expert service and training to the officers of The Queen Sirikit Department of Sericulture, Thailand for development of Eri sector.

The Secretary General, ISC and Country Delegates visited Ongetta, Italy a silk processing Company, saw the processing activities and discussed on the future collaborations with ISC Member Countries, including India. The company is processing about 1000 mt of quality silk.

The ISC delegates along with the Secretary General visited the Experiment Sericulture Station, CREA, Padua, Italy. Visited the silk museum, silkworm and mulberry germplasm, laboratories, artificial diet rearing, etc was interesting. Collaborations in silk sector was discussed.

The ISC delegates visited Department of Biotechnology & Life Sciences, University of Insubria, Varese, Italy. Team interacted with Dr. G. Tettamanti working in the frontier areas of sericulture research. Possible R&D collaboration was discussed.

The Executive Committee meeting of International Sericultural Commission wás held at University of Varese,Italy on 14th May 2025. Delegates from ISC member countries and observers from Italy participated in the EC. Discussed the policy actions to protect the interest of silk.

The delegates of International Sericultural Commission visited Innovhub, Milan, Italy. Discussed on the work on Silk LCA study. Possible collaboration on the silk sector was discussed during the visit.

The delegates of International Sericultural Commission visited Italian Silk Union, Como, Italy. Global issues related to silk testing and grading standards, international silk day, etc were discussed during the interaction.

The Secretary General and delegates of International Sericultural Commission visited Taroni silk company in Como, Italy producing high quality silk fabrics . Interacted on the quality of silk products, production process, etc.

ISC delegates visited Ratti Foundation, Como, Italy as part of Exposure visit. The museum is preserving textile materials, mainly the fabrics more than 1000 years old. Silk fabrics more than thousand years of different countries are preserved by the foundation, is very unique.

The delegates of International Sericultural Commission visited Silk Museum, Como, Italy. The museum is one of the oldest silk museum preserving the oldest machineries, equipment used in silk industry in addition to the history and evolution of silk industry.

The ISC delegation visited the museum and the showroom of Brochier Soieries, Lyon France, the agency working for the development of the silk industry in France since 1890. The museum is very informative and the products displayed are found to be very unique.

The delegates of International Sericultural Commission visited Les Tissages Perrin, one of the oldest silk weaving company involved in production of quality silk products with advanced weaving machenaries and processing technoligies since 1929.

The delegation of ISC visited Unitex, the textile association of France in Lyon and discussed about the status of silk industry in France. Further, couse of action to work towards sustainability in silk was discussed. Sericyne, the company working on sericulture was interacted.

The delegation of International Sericultural Commission visited Maison Des Canuts, the silk museum in Lyon, France and interacted with the Curator. The museum conserved the ancient culture of silk weaving in Lyon.

The concluding programme of the ISC exposure visit was conducted on today. The country delegates expressed the usefulness of the programme for the development of silk industry in their respective countries.The programme was concluded with parting remarks by the Secretary General.

The 4 weeks international ITEC training on Sericulture and Silk Industry is inaugurated today at Central Sericultural Research and Training Institutes, Central Silk Board, Mysore by Dr. S Manthira Moorthy, Director, CSB. 30 candidates from 8 Countries are participating.
