Inland Revenue Service, FBR achieves a growth of 23.3% in tax collection for the month of May, 2023 as compared to last financial year. Direct taxes contribution continues its remarkable trajectory with 57% growth during the current month.

Mr. Asim Ahmad, Chairman FBR inaugurated the newly constructed Tax House at Murree. The event organised by Chief Commissioner, RTO, Rawalpindi, Ms Tehmina Aamir, was also attended by Member (Admin), Syed Nadeem Hussain Rizvi and Member (Operations-IR), Malik Amjed Zubair Tiwana.

IRS FBR has achieved 18% growth and collected 466 billion exceeding the assigned target of 440 billion for the month of July 2023. FBR also achieved an overall target of Rs.534 B and collected Rs.538 B for the month of July 2023, showing 17% increase as compared to July 2022.

Due to severe import compression during the month of Sept, 2023,taxes at import stage were collected at only Rs.254 billion whereas it was Rs.299 billion during the previous month.FBR was able to bridge shortfall of Rs.45 billion through domestic taxes especially direct taxes.3/4

In view of the demand of trade bodies and various tax bar associations, It has been decided that the date of filing of income tax return for Tax Year 2023 is extended to *31st October, 2023*. However, no further extension for filing of said return shall be granted.
