Inland Revenue Service, FBR achieves a growth of 23.3% in tax collection for the month of May, 2023 as compared to last financial year. Direct taxes contribution continues its remarkable trajectory with 57% growth during the current month.

Inland Revenue Service FBR surpasses Income Tax annual target of Rs. 3,026 billion, ten days ahead of close of financial year, showing 41% unprecedented growth in comparison to last year and has collected Rs. 3,035 billion, till 21st June, 2023.

Commercial Counselor of China H.E. Mr. Li Yang paid a courtesy visit to Member (IR-Operations) FBR on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 in Islamabad, and discussed the issues of mutual interest and future cooperation.

IRS FBR has achieved 18% growth and collected 466 billion exceeding the assigned target of 440 billion for the month of July 2023. FBR also achieved an overall target of Rs.534 B and collected Rs.538 B for the month of July 2023, showing 17% increase as compared to July 2022.

FBR's IREN Patrolling Squad, Rawalpindi seized 200 Cartons of unpaid duty/ taxes and counterfeit cigarettes.

A delegation of Pakistan Association of Large Steel Producers (PALSP) called on Member (IR-Operations), Mir Badshah Khan Wazir today at FBR (HQ), Islamabad. The issues related to fixation of the minimum value of Iron and Steel products were discussed in detail.

FBR's IREN Patrolling Squad Faisalabad seized 116 cartons of non-duty/ taxes paid and counterfeit cigarettes.

For the first quarter of current financial year, FBR has collected Rs. 2,041 billion (2022: 1644 billion) against the assigned target of Rs. 1,978 billion thus exceeding the target by Rs. 63 billion. 1/4

FBR has also put in exceptional efforts to achieve revenue target for Sept, 2023. As against a target of Rs.794 billion,FBR was able to collect Rs.834 billion (2022: 688 billion),while refunds amounting to Rs.37 billion were issued compared to Rs.18 billion issued in Sept,22. 2/4

Due to severe import compression during the month of Sept, 2023,taxes at import stage were collected at only Rs.254 billion whereas it was Rs.299 billion during the previous month.FBR was able to bridge shortfall of Rs.45 billion through domestic taxes especially direct taxes.3/4

In view of the demand of trade bodies and various tax bar associations, It has been decided that the date of filing of income tax return for Tax Year 2023 is extended to *31st October, 2023*. However, no further extension for filing of said return shall be granted.

Member IR operations convened a meeting with the representatives of Ministry of IT, PSEB and P@SHA , with an aim to resolve the long standing issues of IT and ITes. FBR is committed to facilitate the IT sector within the legal frameworks.

To facilitate the taxpayers/exporters, FBR has issued tax refunds amounting to more than Rs 30 billion in October -2023 as against Rs 22.5 billion issued in October-2022.

Member IR Operations FBR, convened a virtual meeting with CCs and CIRs of field formations in order to tackle the menance of fake and flying invoices. He emphasized the exigency of initiating legal proceedings against such fraudulent elements.
