From Anas’s pre-written final message, to be posted upon his killing. ‘May God be a witness to those who remained silent, who accepted our killing, and whose hearts were not moved by the remains of our children and women, and who did not stop the massacre of our people.’

#Gaza: CPJ is appalled by Israel’s killing in Gaza of 5 Al Jazeera staff — correspondents Anas al-Sharif and Mohammed Qreiqeh and camera operators Ibrahim Zaher, Mohammed Noufal, and Moamen Aliwa —  & freelance journalist Mohammad al-Khaldi. cpj.org/2025/08/israel…

The Israeli military targeted and killed a crew of Al Jazeera journalists, including Anas Al-Sharif, who for many has been the most recognizable face and voice of the war in Gaza. wapo.st/45uPrfh

Amnesty strongly condemns Israel’s deliberate killing of journalists in an air strike on a media tent in occupied Gaza City. Anas al-Sharif and his colleagues have been the eyes and voices of Gaza. Starved and exhausted, they continued to bravely report from the frontlines,

#Palestine🇵🇸: [UPDATE 11.08.2025] Freelance photojournalist Mohammed Al-Khaldi has succumbed to his wounds sustained in the airstrike that targeted Al Jazeera PR crew. Israel's attack on the tent housing journalists killed six media workers, medics at Al Shifa Hospital reported.

“That attack took out Al Jazeera’s entire Gaza City news crew. ... It was a direct hit on a journalist tent. Journalists are civilians, and to kill them in war is a war crime,” CPJ’s CEO Jodie Ginsberg told Sky News. Watch the interview⤵️ news.sky.com/video/committe… #NotATarget

Anas al-Sharif, the Al Jazeera journalist accused by the IDF of working for Hamas, was previously part of a Reuters group which won a Pulitzer Prize for their coverage. I haven’t seen any accusations against the other reporters and cameramen who were killed with him.

Anas al-Sharif was 28 years old. He grew up in Jabiya refugee camp. He lost his father in December 2023 to Israeli bombs. He was a courageous journalist for #AlJazeera. There is ZERO evidence he was attached to Hamas (this is what Israel does - malign the dead). His last words

Practicing journalism is not a crime. Targetting journalists is a war crime. After one of journalism’s darkest days, must not be impunity for those responsible for the murders of six journalists in #Gaza. My interview with BBC News (UK) earlier today. youtu.be/fNpBsfaOA_c?si…

The targeted killing of Anas al-Sharif and five other journalists on Sunday means at least 242 Palestinian journalists have been killed by Israeli forces since the beginning of October 2023. No conflict in modern history has seen a higher number of journalists killed.
