Exciting new paper with David Gems & Roop Singh Virk IHAatUCL (no longer posting) on epigenetic clocks and programmatic aging. We develop a framework for understanding epigenetic clocks - such as Prof Steve Horvath clock - in terms of programmatic mechanisms. 1/2 sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

We also propose that a conserved birth-to-death developmental sequence may underlie epigenetic clocks. Our work opens a path to a new discipline, that of developmental gerontology (devo-gero) and we offer several new hypotheses that exemplify devo-gero thinking. 2/2
