Just had our granddaughter Ava for a week. Took her for sushi in Brighton—she handled the chopsticks like a pro, and I was just trying to keep up! Till next time, my angel.

As Ukraine marks this its 34th Independence Day, the message is stark: independence is not just inherited—it’s defended at great cost, every day.

Once you’ve heard Kate Winslet say ‘purple-headed womb-ferret,’ you can’t go back to polite society. It just lurks there, like trench foot of the imagination.

This is fantasy. 600,000 deportations, flights, detention centres, and paying the Taliban? Maths, logistics, and morality all collapse. Ripping up human rights treaties won’t restore justice—it invites chaos. Bold on paper, batshit in practice, designed to perform, not govern.

Did you miss me? No, of course you didn’t, none of you are sentimental enough for that. I’ve been on a week-long Twitter sabbatical for swearing at a reformer. Turns out, profanity and pedantry don’t mix. Twitter called it ‘abuse.’ I call it public service. I’m back, reloaded.

“Free speech absolutism” ends the moment it scares you. Everything else is just tribalism pretending to be principle.

Sad to hear that Rick Davies of Supertramp has passed away at 81. Thank you for the music and the ‘Logical Song.’ Rest in peace.

My Victorian tallboy, converted into a wine cabinet in 2005. Eleven drawers, each holding seven bottles — 77 in total. Twenty years of restocking, maturing, and enjoying.

Banksy painted it, the state rushed to cover it up. A judge beating a protester outside the Royal Courts of Justice—perfectly timed after nearly 900 arrests at Saturday’s Palestine Action protest. The message is clear: censorship isn’t compliance, it’s complicity.

The irony is brutal. Banksy’s work is priceless, revered worldwide—yet the British state removes it, not for art, but for the truths it exposes. In trying to erase it, they’ve only amplified its message: dissent and scrutiny of power cannot be silenced.

Kirk’s words were built to divide. He thrived on outrage, culture-war rhetoric, and conspiracy mongering, and the demonising of opponents. That kind of politics breeds volatility and in the end, he became a casualty of the very chaos he cultivated.

Do you think the BBC gives Reform UK to much airtime compared to all the other political parties?🤔 Repost after voting please.

Sad to hear of Danny’s passing. I first came across his work on John Martyn’s Solid Air, and it’s impossible to overstate his contribution to that album—his bass playing on it remains some of the most remarkable I’ve ever heard.
