After a year of essentially not leaving the house and spending most of my time talking to a baby, Swarthmore College summer session is going to start in person on June 1. May the students have patience with me...

I'm teaching a seminar focused on organometallic chemistry this coming fall. I'd like a list of applications of organometallic chemistry to give to the students to draw from for their independent projects. What are some topics that should be included?

I took a birth control pill for over a decade because our patriarchal society has decided women primarily bear the brunt of family planning. I’m familiar with the risk of blood clots. Give me any available vaccine. And make a male birth control pill please.

This might be nitpicky, but I'm really salty about one of my GRFP reviews.

One of the reviews had a sentence that said 'despite coming from a PUI... this applicant exhibits...'

Framing my undergrad training at a Hispanic Serving PUI as a deficit is not ok with with.

Showing anti-racist support for our Asian colleagues and friends needs to be coupled with learning (and using) the names of the Asian PIs in your field. Enough with the “some Chinese group” type comments in talks.

Relevant to this article, I note without surprise that at least one pharma company that refused to hire F1-visa-holding Chinese chemists this past cycle has been tweeting support for its Asian and Asian American employees, like we weren't paying attention. science.sciencemag.org/content/372/65…
