Recently there have been alarming signs of the Gebesee site losing carbon (based on eddy covariance and harvest data) despite frequent organic fertilization. More on that can be read in FLUXES vol 2: bit.ly/3NYPDdZ

In the summer, trees are able to compensate the emissions so the site becomes a carbon sink during the daytime. For the rest of the time, however, this is the opposite. (4/5)

ICOS Germany held its annual meeting at Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry. Lots of informative talks around domain-specific topics, e.g. recent developments of the G3W Initiative of WMO or ecosystem disturbances. A highlight was the visit of the ICOS Flask and Calibration Lab - thanks to the FCL team!
