On August 25 I spoke on the island of Büyükada at the Second International Leon Trotsky Conference. I reviewed Trotsky's struggle against the rise of fascism during the four years of his Büyükada exile (1929-33) and the immense contemporary significance of his political legacy.

My detailed review of Beatty's pathetic and dishonest work, posted at wsws.org/en/articles/20…, proves that his sham biography, full of fabrications and lies, does not meet the elemental standards of scholarship. Seeking to discredit Healy, Beatty has discredited himself. 6/6

Though Aidan Beatty himself is from Ireland, his "biography" says nothing about Healy and the Socialist Labour League's immediate denunciation - in contrast to the Stalinists, state capitalists and Pabloites - of the deployment of British troops to Ulster in August 1969.

These two issues of the Fourth International, published by the International Committee in the aftermath of the 1985-86 split, contain the essential documents of the political crisis in the Workers Revolutionary Party. They are not included in Aidan Beatty's bibliography.

After the WSWS's exposure of his self-discrediting biography of Gerry Healy, there is something pathetic about Aidan Beatty expressing gratitude for a "generous and thoughtful" review from a fellow middle-class cynic who shares Beatty's hatred of Trotskyism. 1/
