Congrats to our grad team for leading a J Applied Biomech Human Kinetics paper which used ultrasound to characterize soft tissue thickness overlying the greater trochanter, and modeled their influence on fall-related impact loads and hip fracture risk. doi.org/10.1123/jab.20….






Impact simulations of falls from standing height investigated impact dynamics and fx risk. Lateral and posterior-lateral impacts were most dangerous, and hip protectors most effective for lateral and oblique impacts.
