We can reveal the murderer was....Tim Trickster! He spoke to the Mayor after hanging around outside the party. He asked the Mayor if he could join the cricket team, the Mayor said 'No, absolutely not!'. So Tim was not happy...

Tim was most angry at the Mayor saying he couldn't join the cricket team, so he threatened him with his knife and took him hostage. Unfortunately, things turned nasty at the cricket pavilion and the Mayor did not leave alive!
