3 weeks in and the COVIDSurg study has already collected data for over 20,000 patients around the world! We have >60 researchers working hard across 4 hospitals and 11 surgical specialties in HNE. There is 1 week to go of data collection so get in touch if you’d like to join!

Tomorrow is the last day to finalise data entry for CovidSurg Week! In total, data has been collected on 133,000 patients in 114 countries. In Aus and NZ, 507 researchers have been working across 52 hospitals. The numbers are staggering. Congrats to GlobalSurg and all involved!

COVIDSurg Week Australia >3,500 patients data entered. From 44 hospitals, with a few still to enter. Widest spread of collaborators in any project run here so far. Only 300ish missing data items, lets get them tidied up this week! Database remains open for data this week

Fantastic work from our John Hunter data collectors! Large scale, well designed studies like this both further the surgical literature, and verse our med students and junior docs in valuable foundational research skills. 🩸📊💻

This milestone comes as Maitland Hospital officially joins our ranks today for data collection in period 2. Looking forward to contributing a larger record of our local practices to inform policy and guidelines surrounding the treatment of peri-operative anaemia 👏
