As of November 1, 2022, a whip and flag will be required on all side-by-sides (ROVs). A whip is any pole, rod, or antenna securely mounted on the vehicle that extends at least eight feet from the surface of the ground, and must stand upright when the vehicle is stopped.

Update Nov. 8, 2022: Stipa Trail, Condor Trail, Badger Trail, Powerline Road, Backbone Trail, Antler Trail, Flying W Trail, and Vic’s Cat Trail are closed due to a forecasted “Winter Storm Watch” and high precipitation for the next two days. forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?l…

Hungry Valley SVRA is currently closed due to significant damage from recent storms impacting roads and trails throughout the park. Trail assessments and grading are ongoing in an effort to reopen the park as soon as it is safe and the flooding has stopped. #hungryvalleysvra

Hungry Valley SVRA remains closed due to damage from the recent storms. The campgrounds have been cleared of debris. We are now focusing on the main corridor through the park and areas west of the campgrounds. We are working diligently to reopen the park as soon as it is safe.

The North Entrance to Hungry Valley SVRA is currently closed due to icy conditions. The South Entrance remains closed due to recent damage from flooding. We will assess the conditions throughout the day and may open the North Entrance if safe.

Hungry Valley SVRA will close on Tuesday, March 13, 2023 due to predictioned heavy rainstorms impacting the area. Conditions in the park will be assessed later in the week and opened when it is safe to do so and resources in the park will not sustain additional damage.

The North Entrance is currently open. The South Entrance will open tomorrow morning. The current closures are the Grasslands Management Area, Backbone Complex, Badlands Complex, and Cow Trail. There should be a beautiful weather for riding this weekend. #hungryvalleysvra #ohmvr

Update (April 11, 2023): The following trails in the Native Grasslands Management Area are open: Powerline Road, Badger Trail, Stipa Trail, and Condor Trail. Backbone Trail, Flying W Trail, and Antler Trail are open. The Badlands Complex and Vic's Cat Trail are closed.

Effective January 14, 2025, due to extreme fire danger, all areas of Hungry Valley State Vehicular Area shall be closed to open fires of any kind with the exception of gas-fueled stoves. The restriction will include charcoal barbeques.
