The first half of the week brought us two awesome guests! Rupley Elementary’s Officer Leon taught us about digital citizenship—how to be smart, safe & kind online. Then, Mrs. Olson surprised us for SEL & read Ordinary Mary’s Extraordinary Deed. 💙#kindnessspreads #itonlytakesaspark ⚡️

Subtracting fractions from whole numbers? No prob! We used Illustrative Mathematics’s Fraction Strips to make the abstract (almost) concrete to better understand the relationship between parts & wholes. Thanks, Michelle Benages & the math team for a great PLT on manipulatives! Rupley Elementary

Knowing kids comes with a cost. Their weight becomes our weight. It also comes w/clarity. School might matter more if all the other (often tragic) things in their lives mattered less. But that doesn’t mean they don’t need us. They do. And there’s no escaping that gravity.

Thanks to these Harper College Baseball Hawks who shared some powerful lessons. We should aim to be 1% better every day & learn from everything. We also learned about the Harper Promise, which allows D214 students to attend Harper College for free! What an opportunity for our kids!
