When I was a lad we had a 1st class National Health Service free at the point of use. Free dentistry. Good schools with free meals for poorer kids. Free uni education with grants not loans. A family of 4 could live on a single wage. But tell that to the younger generation today..

There's so much wrong with academia, but it remains a privilege to work in a profession where you don't have to use LinkedIn.
